RV rental NYC: What to see and do
New York is a world-class travel destination, bursting with things to see and do. If you can avoid it, we recommend not driving New York motorhome rentals around Manhattan. There is excellent public transport in the city which can get you to places like the Statue of Liberty ferry, the Empire State Building, the World Trade Center Memorial, Central Park, or Times Square.
If you're seeking a break from the urban hustle and bustle, New York has plenty of natural escapes to offer. For example, you can travel across New York state to Niagara Falls State Park, where you can marvel at one of nature's greatest spectacles, or you can travel north to historic villages like Rhinebeck, Lake George and Cooperstown.
Soon enough, you'll realize that the New York area is never short on state parks, with hiking trails, waterfalls, and other natural green wonders. The Acadia National Park, in the state of Maine, is an 8-hour drive north of New York city. It’s a 47,000-acre park bordered by coastline, brimming with lakes and hiking tracks, and decorated with mountains.
Another 6-hour northern RV trip with your New York rental motorhome is to the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire, a drive that’s a vacation in itself for its breathtaking views. It will take you past the Sabbaday Falls, the Rocky Gorge, and the Lower Falls.
In the north of NY State, roughly 5 hours from New York City, you will find the Women’s Rights National Historical Park in Seneca Falls, next to the USA-Canada border. This spot is historically very important as the birthplace of women’s rights in the USA and has plenty of fascinating landmarks and historic homes to explore with your motorhome.
We can highly recommend a visit to Berkeley Springs, as there is something there for everyone in your traveling group. From the dashing city, step out of your motorhome rental New York and soak in the natural hot springs that boast 74-degree water. The Cacapon River is ideal for many kayakers, and the path alongside the Potomac is popular with hikers, bikers and campers. Berkeley Springs is in West Virginia, approximately 4.5 hours from the city with NY RV rentals.
Where to stay in your RV rental
When it comes to finding New York RV parks, there are plenty of options across the state. Starting near the city, there is Skyline RV Camp in Brooklyn and Liberty Harbor RV Park across the Hudson River in New Jersey. There are dozens more around New York State, including Alpine Lake RV Resort, Lake George Escape Campground, Niagara Falls Campground & Lodging, and Twin Oak Campground in Schoharie. Before you book, check out the amenities and outdoor activities on offer at each RV park to make sure it's right for you.
Explore more of America
