Which Motorhome Suits You Best?
If you're new to motorhoming, it can be a bit of a challenge to choose which motorhome is best for your first trip. There's a huge range across a range of companies and campervans, and it can be a bit overwhelming at first, but actually looking at some of your personality and lifestyle traits can help you make a decision on your accommodation on wheels.
Super outdoorsy
Do you do a lot of camping? If you do, you'll be used to the absolute basics so any kind of camper is going to seem like the lap of luxury. This means you can probably go with a more basic model without all the bells and whistles. Bonus, this will be kind on your wallet too.
Tidy and organised
This is another category of people who can choose from the whole spectrum of motorhomes as tidy and organized folk usually cope well in smaller spaces- compacting everything up neatly and tucking it away every day is no big deal to them. We're definitely not being judgey here, but if messy is your default you might want to think about hiring a vehicle with a few more berths than passengers. That way you might not have to fold your bed away every day to have a place to sit, or eat.
Spontaneous and free spirited
Do you shun holiday parks and want to travel where the wind and your mood takes you? If you want to do a lot of freedom camping you need to be 'self contained' - this means you need to rent a campervan that can store at least three-days’ worth of fresh water and wastewater, and has a toilet onboard. Also have a think about size - while a bigger vehicle has more space for relaxation, they can also restrict where you can park.
Fabulous foodie
The way you cook can totally affect the kind of motorhome you hire. Campervan kitchens vary enormously so if you're the two-minute noodles and fish and chips on the beach type, you'll be fine with a pretty basic set up. If part of your travelling joy is perusing farmers markets and whipping up great dishes from your finds, you might want to make sure your model has a few mod cons (and maybe bring an extra gas stove to give you an extra element you can use outside)
Confident driver
Motorhomes are actually - on the whole - easier to drive than you think. But if you're not a super- confident driver you might want to stick with something smaller and easier to maneuver and park, the first time you take a campervan holiday. If you're the kind of person who can back a trailer uphill on a steep driveway, blindfolded, you won't be restricted by size or shape of the model you rent.

There's nothing better than a road trip. While I love flying to different cities you never get the same experience as you do when you're driving. That fruit stall with the huge red strawberries, the local gallery you never knew existed, the deserted white-sand beach you only saw because the man at the cafe told you it's just down the road. Wheels give you freedom to discover and explore and be absorbed by all the treasures a region has to offer.
