The Gondwana subtropical rainforest is extensive: 906,000 acres of land, with rainforests in Queensland, New South Wales, and beyond. Start with Lamington National Park and you won't be disappointed, wandering past primitive plants and wildlife which have been around for millions of years. Feel like Indiana Jones did while walking along suspension bridges (minus the crocodiles) - we recommend O'Reilly's Tree Top Canopy Walk. A Brisbane campervan hire will get you here.

Daintree Rainforest, Queensland

The Errinundra National Park in East Gippsland contains the most remaining cool temperate rainforests in Victoria. From self-guided walks to scenic drives, you'll have plenty to do during your rainforest visit. Wielangta Forest, Tasmania

Walk the historic Wielangta Tramway Trail in Wielangta Forest

We're back in Tasmania and for a good reason! This lush oasis is the place to be if you're a fan of spotting rare and threatened species. Wielangta is home to the Tasmanian wedge-tailed eagle, swift parrot, broad-toothed stag beetle, spotted-tail quoll and eastern barred bandicoot to name a few. In the heart of the forest is Sandpit Forest Reserve picnic which is perfect for resting in one of the two stone shelters once used by Aborigines. Wielangta is a local Aboriginal name meaning 'tall trees'.

The rainforests in Victoria cover five central regions, but we're focusing on The Otways along the Great Ocean Road. Escape to this lush treetop canopy where you'll find cascading waterfalls like Triplet Falls as well as nearby secluded beaches like Cape Otway. Get up close and personal with the eucalyptus trees on the Otway Fly Tree Top Walk. You may even spot cute, sleepy koalas.

Exploring by motorhome is my favourite way to immerse myself in a different place/culture. My favourite so far? The Southern States of the USA - epic food, amazing people and the most beautiful scenery. I could go on about that trip forever!
