It also has an abundance of various markets held on Saturdays and Sundays, providing that quintessential weekend activity of drinking coffee and browsing the stalls - before brunch in a waterfront cafe!

In the evening, a soak in the Peninsula Hot Springs is a treat. Try to plan a visit to the fascinating McClelland Sculpture Park and Gallery before you leave. There are plenty of camping options along the foreshore reserve between Rye and Sorrento, a great place to base yourself for the night.

It’s a 2-hour drive north from Perth to the Pinnacles Desert, and not only will you get to see some idyllic coastline along the way, but you’ll also end up at an otherworldly area of fantastic rock formations in the desert landscape of Nambung National Park. There is a four-kilometre loop through the pinnacles that you can walk or drive to view the formations, and on the coast, you’ll find gorgeous beaches at Kangaroo Point and Hangover Bay. The lovely town of Cervantes is nearby, and it’s considered the rock lobster capital - so you should definitely enjoy a seafood dinner while you’re there.

Take an after-dark tour for spooky effect, and during the drive to and from, enjoy the scenery, empty beaches and plentiful wildlife of the Tasman Peninsula.
